Localization
Southeast Papua, between Merauke and Papua New Guinea border.
Access
Easy. By air to Merauke and along the main road from Merauke to Jayapura - about 45 km (1.5 hours) east of Merauke.
Characteristic
4,138 km2; Very flat lowland area (0-90 m asl.). Extensive seasonally inundated. Typical ecosystems: swamp forest, grasslands (about 70% of total area), wetlands, freshwater ecosystems, mangroves.

Wild animals and birds observation.
Some trekking possibilities. Kayaking/canoeing along rivers. Fishing.
Note
Best time to visit VII-XI.
Inaccessible during rainy season.
Very simple acommodation available only, no food supply available to buy.
In 2006 the park has been also recognised as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.
There are four groups of indigenous peoples living in the park, belonging to the tribes of Kanume, Marind, Marori and Yei.
