Access

Easy - 4 hours by car from Manado or 3 hours by car from Kota Mobagu

Characteristic

2871 km2, Landscape from flat lowlands and hilly areas up to mountain range in central parts of the park. Altitude 50 - 2000 meters above sea level. Park is located in the transitional zone between the Indo-Malayan geographical zone in the west and the Papua-Australian geographical zone in the east (so called Wallaceae Area). Approx 20 rivers flow from the national park’s mountains. Typical ecosystems: lowland rain forest (about 60% of total area), montane rain forest up to 2000 m, freshwater ecosystems (lakes, water streams, waterfalls), wetlands. Large number of endemic species.

Thermal springs

Threats - wildlife poaching (for meat and eggs), illegal logging, mining (including gold), over-harvesting of non-timber products, and illegal land conversion and agricultural encroachment.
