Islands located in the Flores Sea, south of Sulawesi island.
Access
Difficult. The nearest large city is Makassar, from where it can be reached in about 16 hours by boat.
Characteristic
5308 km2; Marine national park - atoll islands and surrounding marine area. The park has around 20 islands, six of which are inhabited. A chain of flat islands of dry coral and large flat sunken reef. The coral islands are interspersed by narrow, deep, sheer-walled straits. Typical ecosystems: coral reefs, sea and sea coast, mangroves, sand dunes. Extraordinary biodiversity of marine life.
