Access

Easy. By boat from Mannar.

Characteristic

190 km2; Chain of shoals on coral reefs. This 48 km long bridge separates the Gulf of Mannar from the Palk Strait. Typical ecosystems: sea and sea coast, coral reefs, sand dunes.

Note

Best time to visit: V-VIII

The bridge was once passable on foot until it was destroyed in a cyclone in AD 1480.

The Indian section of Adam's Bridge is part of the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park
