Localization
East Sri Lanka, 318 km east of Colombo, 16 km west of Pottuvil
Access
Easy. Pottuvil - Monaragala Road runs through the park.
Characteristic
5100 ha; Flat area with solitary rock outcrops in coastal dry zone of Sri Lanka. This national park makes a part of the elephant natural migratory corridor between Yala and Gal Oya national parks. There are three water tanks within Lahugala Kitulana national park - groups of wild elephants and many water birds concentrate around the tanks. Typical ecosystems: grasslands, dry evergreen forest, gallery forest along rivers, freshwater ecosystems.

Walking within the park is not allowed
An ancient temple ruins at the northern edge of the park; many other historical monuments around the park
The largest stupa of the Eastern Province, the Neelagiri stupa is also found in Lahugala reserve.
