Eastern Sri Lanka, 280 km north east from Colombo, 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli.

Access

Easy. Only by boat - 15 min. by a charter boat from Nilaveli.

Characteristic

5 km2; National park consists of two rocky islands with coastal beaches - Large Pigeon Island and Small Pigeon Island. The Large Pigeon Island is fringed by a coral reef, and is about 200 m long and 100 m wide. Its highest point is 44.8 m above mean sea level. The small pigeon island is surrounded by rocky islets. Typical ecosystems: sea and sea coast, coral reefs.

Note

There is neither touristic infrastructure nor drinking water in the island.
