Localization

North eastern Tanzania on the Kenyan border, about 112 kilometers from the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro town of Moshi.

Access

Easy. Approximately three hours southeast of Arusha by road or 40 minutes by air from Kilimanjaro airport.

Characteristic

3234 km²; Vast plains - flat or undulated area with isolated rocky hills. Within sight to the northwest is Mount Kilimanjaro. To the south, the Pare and Usambara Mountains form a dramatic backdrop. Typical ecosystems: semi-arid grasslands, dry woodlands, acacia savanna.

Safari drives and walking safari. Birdwatching.

Hiking in surrounding mountans.

Note

It is contiguous with Kenya’s Tsavo West National Park.

Best time to visit VI-IX.

Not very frequented park by tourists.
